Message from Co-Chairs
We are thrilled to be Co-Chairing Rendez-Vous 2012, a joint world conference being held October 9 – 14, 2012 in Thunder Bay, Northern Ontario, Canada. This conference highlights the collaboration of five conference organization partners, and their ability to bring together the planning of a conference with many perspectives from around the world. Our vision for this conference is to build a global community, international relationships, and the capacity to make a difference in health professional education.
Rendez-Vous 2012 – Together and Engaged, has been selected as the branding for this conference in tribute to our heritage and culture in Northern Ontario. A Francophone term, “Rendez-Vous” means “a place appointed for assembling or meeting.” It feels both appealing and appropriate to describe this event as a Rendez-Vous, as we convene communities from around the world in teaching, learning and networking about community participation in education, service, research, and health.
Filled with ample opportunities for a variety of learning and discussion, the preliminary program includes formats ranging from interactive workshops and oral presentations to thematic poster sessions and PeARLs. Each day will bring new perspectives, building on the overall theme of the conference: Community participation in education, service, research, and health. Please consider submitting an abstract or two, and share with us your innovative research, education strategies, and approaches to working with communities.
We share with you the enthusiasm of the Organizing Committee, our Northern Ontario regional communities, and all the health professional schools and organizations that we represent as we continue the planning over the next several months. We hope to see you at Rendez-Vous 2012!
Warmest and kindest regards,
